The Last Days Of Capitalism…?

We are in the middle of the biggest revolution for 150 years! But we’re so busy being IN it that we don’t even know! Capitalism was born during the industrial revolution 100 odd years ago. It relied on manufacturing, steel, coal, mining, shipping, railways and of course banking. All very masculine, competitive stuff.
We have all been caught napping and lured into wealth consumption and away from wealth creation. And of course we’re all consuming energy to power the cars, the planes, the gizmos and gadgets and appliances. Fuelling the biggest EVER drain on our natural resources!
We now live in a consumerist age, and if we don’t find a way to change things, this will only get worse. Global warming continues to be a threat, as does food and water shortages.
Isn’t it funny that we think of ‘history’ in terms of the cotton and woollen mills that have now all been turned in museums? If 2009 was history in the making, one day I think the big office buildings in our largest cities will one day be museums as well. We’ll look back at all those hoards of people who would flock to the city, grabbing a cup of coffee on the way, all wearing suits and ties rushing from trains like ants to sit in front of a computer terminal for 8 hours a day.
I would be the first person to say that I’m not an expert in history or how the markets work, but from a human potential point of view, we can’t escape the fact that yes the speculators and banks will continue to have a big say in the economy. However, there is a new revoluation quietly taking place in ‘the shires’ led by a new breed of business person. The ‘Ultrapreneur’. Ultrapreneurialism is for everyone. For that person who is looking for fresh thinking who would rather take steps to create their own future, based on their own values – rather than wait for those in charge to carry on making mistakes.
We’re in a new virtual revolution which is fuelling something else. As to where it’s going I don’t know. But look, more and more people are finding ways of generating income working from home, in their garage or in their newly converted garden shed. The internet, mobile working and technology are enabling millions of people to create wealth in an entirely new way.
What do you think? Will things go back to the way they were before. Is the current way of doing business actually serving us and the planet. Has it really got a long term future, or do we need to join together to create something else…?
But becoming an Ultreapreneur isn’t easy. Being at the frontier of change is tough – which is why I’ve produced ‘Ultrapreneurs Unplugged – What They Don’t Tell you About Building A Successful Micro Business’. It contains 96 pages of insights as a result of some research I undertook into the life of a small business owner, interviews with successful entrepreneurs and reveals the 25 key challenges faced by individuals who are working on their own micro businesses.
Until next time
Warmest regards
Wendy
